3. Creating & Managing Rules

Rules are the core feature of the Skinvalue.club Highlighter, defining what items you want to highlight while browsing skin marketplaces.

Creating Rules

There are two ways to create rules:

Method 1: Using the Extension Popup

1

Click the extension icon to open the popup, and make sure you're on the Rules tab.

2

Fill in the rule details:

  • Gun Type: The weapon type (e.g., "AK-47", "★ Butterfly Knife", "StatTrak™ AK-47")
  • Skin Name: The specific skin (e.g., "Redline", "Tiger Tooth")
  • Max Float Value: The maximum float value you'll accept (e.g., 0.25)
  • Quality: The wear quality (Factory New, Minimal Wear, etc.)
  • Max Price: The maximum price you're willing to pay
3

Click "Add Rule" to save your settings.

Method 2: Quick Add from Listings

1

While browsing a supported site, hover over any listing to reveal the "+ Add to Highlighter" button.

2

Click the button to instantly create a rule based on that item's properties.

3

The rule will be added to your list and the item will be highlighted immediately.

For Vanilla Knives: The extension automatically detects vanilla knives (those without skins) and creates special rules for them. Simply leave the Skin Name field empty when creating a rule for a vanilla knife.

Managing Rules

You can manage your rules from the extension popup or the full settings page:

Using the Extension Popup

  • Edit: Click the "Edit" button next to any rule to modify its properties
  • Delete: Click the "Del" button to remove rules you no longer need

Using the Full Settings Page

1

Open the extension popup and click "Open Full Settings Page" to access the comprehensive settings interface.

2

Here you can:

  • Filter and search your rules
  • Edit or delete rules
  • Export and import rule collections
  • Manage all extension settings in one place
Pro Tip: For StatTrak™ items, make sure to include "StatTrak™" in the Gun Type field (e.g., "StatTrak™ AK-47") for precise matching.

4. Skin Highlighting System

When browsing supported marketplaces, the extension scans each listing and compares it against your rules, highlighting matches so they stand out.

Highlight Colors

  • Green Highlight (Full Match): The item matches ALL your criteria (weapon type, skin name, quality, float, and price)
  • Red Highlight (Partial Match): The item matches your basic identifiers (weapon type, skin name, and quality) but doesn't meet your float or price requirements

Rule Price Display

When an item matches one of your rules, the extension shows your maximum price in parentheses next to the actual price. This helps you quickly see if the item is within your budget.

Matching Logic

The extension uses the following matching logic:

  • Basic Identifiers: Matches the weapon type (including StatTrak™/Souvenir status), skin name, and quality
  • Float Value: The item's float value must be less than or equal to your specified maximum float
  • Price: The item's price must be less than or equal to your specified maximum price
Special Handling for Vanilla Skins: For vanilla knives/items (without skins), the extension uses special matching that ignores skin name and quality criteria, comparing only the weapon type and any float/price requirements.

5. Auto-Refresh for CSFloat

The Auto-Refresh feature automatically refreshes the CSFloat page at regular intervals to help you catch new listings as soon as they appear.

Setting Up Auto-Refresh

1

While browsing CSFloat, look for the Auto-Refresh button next to the site's refresh button.

2

Click the button to open the Auto-Refresh settings dropdown.

3

Toggle Auto-Refresh on or off.

4

Set your desired refresh interval (5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds, or a custom value).

5

Click "Apply Settings" to save your configuration.

Auto-Refresh Status

When Auto-Refresh is active, you'll see a status indicator in the bottom-right corner of the browser window, showing:

  • The current status (Active/Inactive)
  • A countdown to the next refresh
Warning: Setting a very short refresh interval (under 5 seconds) may cause excessive requests to CSFloat's servers, which could potentially lead to temporary IP restrictions.

6. Statistics & Monitoring

The Statistics tab in the extension popup provides real-time information about your skin hunting activity.

Available Statistics

  • Running Time: How long the monitoring has been active
  • Active Tabs: Number of tabs with active monitoring

  • Partial Matches: Items that match basic identifiers but not all criteria
  • Full Matches: Items that match all criteria
  • Potential Cost: The total cost of all full matches found
  • Active Sites: Which marketplaces are currently being monitored

Monitoring Controls

The monitoring controls allow you to manage the extension's activity:

  • Start: Begin monitoring (enabled by default)
  • Stop: Pause monitoring
  • Reset: Clear all statistics
Note: Statistics are maintained across tabs but will reset when all monitored pages are closed or when the browser is restarted.

9. Frequently Asked Questions

Which sites does the extension support?

Currently, the extension supports Skinport, CSFloat, BitSkins, White.Market, CS.Money, and SkinBaron. Support for additional marketplaces may be added in future updates.

How do I create rules for StatTrak™ or vanilla skins?

For StatTrak™ items, include "StatTrak™" in the Gun Type field (e.g., "StatTrak™ AK-47"). For vanilla skins (knives without skins), simply enter the knife type without a skin name. The extension will automatically detect and create appropriate rules.

What do the different highlight colors mean?

Green highlights indicate full matches that meet all your criteria (gun type, skin name, quality, float, and price). Red highlights indicate partial matches that match your basic criteria (gun type, skin name, quality) but don't meet your float or price requirements.

Can I use my license on multiple devices?

Your license can be active on one device at a time. To use it on a different device, first deactivate it on your current device by going to the License tab and clicking "Deactivate License."

How does the extension detect vanilla skins?

The extension uses a combination of methods to detect vanilla skins, including checking for the absence of a skin name, looking for "Not Painted" in item descriptions, and examining the market hash name structure. For best results with vanilla knives, simply create a rule with the knife name but no skin name.

10. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

Extension Not Highlighting Items

  • Check License Status: Ensure your license is active by checking the License tab
  • Verify Rules: Make sure you've created rules that match the items you're looking for
  • Refresh the Page: Sometimes a simple page refresh can resolve display issues
  • Check Monitoring Status: In the Stats tab, ensure monitoring is active

Rules Not Working Correctly

  • Double-Check Formatting: Ensure all fields are properly formatted (e.g., StatTrak™ is included in the Gun Type field)
  • Verify Skin Names: Make sure skin names match exactly as they appear on the site
  • Check Float Value Format: Use decimal point (not comma) for float values
  • Try Creating a New Rule: Sometimes creating a fresh rule can resolve matching issues

License Issues

  • Refresh License Status: Click the "Refresh License Status" button in the License tab
  • Check Internet Connection: A stable connection is needed for license verification
  • Contact Support: If problems persist, contact support at support@skinvalue.club with your license details

Extension Performance

  • Excessive Resource Usage: Having too many rules (100+) may impact performance
  • Multiple Tabs: Running the extension on many tabs simultaneously can affect performance
  • Auto-Refresh Rate: Very short refresh intervals on CSFloat can increase resource usage
General Troubleshooting: If you experience persistent issues, try disabling and re-enabling the extension, or reinstalling it from the Chrome Web Store.
